ENKON ENVIRONMENTAL

On Behalf of Vancouver Organizing Committee, ENKON coordinated the preparation of the Application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Whistler Nordic Centre (WNC) in the Callaghan Valley, near Whistler, BC.  The project components assessed included the Nordic competition facilities, access road and Legacy recreational trails.  The project entailed regulatory liaison, technical studies and incorporation of other consultant’s technical components into the final submission.  ENKON’s technical component included preparing a detailed environmental impact assessment, mitigation & compensation measures and Environmental Management Plans to minimize potential impacts.  The Environmental Assessment Certificate was issued in April 2005. 

 

During construction of the Nordic Competition Venue ENKON assisted in obtaining water licenses for withdrawal related to geotechnical studies, approvals for temporary road crossings and Section 35(2) Authorizations for the access road crossings of Callaghan Creek and Edna Creek, and recreational trail’s crossing of Beverly Creek.  Other post-certification work included environmental monitoring services and preparation of annual compliance reports to Heritage Canada.
